Imagine...

Imagine being sealed away from the world. Alone in the darkness and silence. Every breath you take is heavy with the remnants of death and your own regrets, filling your lungs, entering your flesh, filling your soul. As you stay, cloistered away the days blur into weeks, weeks to months... Without noticing it, the taint of shadow becomes part of you, like a second skin as it permeates every fiber of your being.

Then, you are presented with purpose, and a reason to leave this shadowy grave. But though you leave it, it's still a part of you. The sun may shine, but it cannot pierce the silent shroud that envelopes you, and wherever your new path leads you, you are always and ever alone.

Until you path leads you to a land of ice.

There is an unrealness to this place; shapes lose their edge and there is a new silence, one that is not so much silent as it is peaceful. The air almost sears your lungs with it's cold purity, and though the sun has set, the white of the snow is nearly blinding. A light snow begins to fall and you feel the gentle touch of the tiny ice crystals before they melt against your cheek.

You pause, shut your eyes and extend your arms to let the coldness embrace you. The taint of decay that you have carried with you falls away from your mind and is cast away by the wind like dust. You no longer hear the others with you; you are lost in the moment as the snow gently falls.

The moment is all.

Something to look at while I try to finish my next WinAmp skin. This was created one very late night last year after playing FF7 too long. Pencil drawing colored in Painter 5.5. I haven't really had a place to display it until now.
